A letter was sent home saying Claira would be awarded student of the month for January and we were invited to attend the assembly with explicit instructions to keep it a secret from Claira;) Man, was that hard! Ben & I were so excited for her we could hardly wait to see her surprised little face. We tried hiding in the back of the assembly hall so she wouldn't see us & guess why we were there, but she walked right by us and inevitably Dylan gave us away...we tried hiding our faces and everything! He looked right at her as she walked by and said "Hi Claira!"
She got a certificate, a pass to wear normal clothes to school (they normally wear uniforms), a free pass to get a big fat philly pretzel at lunch time, and of course a sweet bumper sticker for the proud parents;)

Here she is with her friend Matt, who also got his own award. He raised over $100 for Haiti by selling coffee to adults on the weekend! His mom says it was all his idea too...what a sweet little kid. All the teachers say these two are inseparable little buddies:)

I know I am so delayed on these comments, you know that's how I roll. LOVE this post! She is so awesome! She even picks the philanthropist elementary schooler as her friend. That's my niece!
